Suzuki is an annual program (no spring enrollment)
Parent orientation during spring semester is required for fall 2012 enrollment
The Suzuki Method is recognized worldwide as a highly effective approach to teaching children the language of music. The curriculum incorporates three elements that provide the essentials needed for instrumental music education: private lessons, theory classes, and group classes. Parent involvement is an integral component of the Suzuki approach; parents learn and practice alongside the child, functioning as role models and providing encouragement. Generations of students have begun a lifelong journey of musical enrichment through the Suzuki approach. The Suzuki program at the Brooklyn Conservatory offers programs in violin, viola, cello, guitar, piano and bass. For further information, please contact Julianne Carney at jcarney@bqcm.org.
To ensure full understanding of the responsibilities and commitments of our program, parents are required to attend a Prospective Parent Orientation. During the orientation, directors discuss the Suzuki philosophy, educational approach, and the important role parents play in the child's progress. Attendees will also be informed of scheduling requirements and what to expect during the first semester. Orientation is one hour, including Q & A. Parents must arrive on time and stay for the entire orientation.
At least one parent or guardian must attend a Suzuki Parent Orientation in order for their child to be eligible to enroll in the Suzuki Program in Fall, 2012.
PARENT ORIENTATION DATES FOR FALL 2012:
Sunday, February 12, 6 pm
Wednesday, February 15, 8 pm
Sunday, March 11, 6 pm
Wednesday, April 25, 8 pm
The Orientation is for PARENTS ONLY. Enrollment is First-Come/First-Served, and popular instruments fill up quickly.
Full Suzuki Package:
Includes private lessons, one group instrumental class and theory class, two recitals and two festival concerts. Annual (30 weeks)

In 1988, the Conservatory created its Music Partners Program in order to enhance music education programs at public schools, child care centers, youth-based agencies, and adult and senior centers in Brooklyn and Queens. Today there are nearly fifty programs serving 5,000 children and adults. Each program is tailored to meet the specific needs of each school or organization. Music Partners also offers workshops for music teachers and classroom teachers working with groups of children Pre-K through Third Grade. We offer these workshops as a resource for music educators who are looking for additional material and peer support. For more information, contact Dorothy Savitch, Music Partners Director, at 718.622.3300 x21.
