When can I register?

Students may register for private lessons in any instrument or voice at any time during the year and pay the prorated cost of the remaining lessons in the semester. Students may join group classes up to four weeks after the semester has begun (and pay the prorated cost). See the calendar for fall and spring semester pre-registration and registration dates.

What is the absence/makeup policy?
Absences from individual lessons: If the student is unable to attend a lesson, the school or teacher must be notified 24 hours in advance. An unexcused absence is one in which the school has not been given 24 hoursí notice and therefore will not be made up. If a student is absent for three consecutive weeks without notice, the student will be considered withdrawn and will forfeit the lesson time. Missed lessons due to the teacherís absence are always made up. Makeups are not given for student absences at group class sessions.
The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is cancelled, the student will receive a prorated refund for all remaining sessions.
All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to the Registration Office. No refunds will be given after the studentís fourth week of lessons or classes. Students requesting withdrawals within the first four weeks will be held responsible for prorated tuition for completed sessions (including absences) plus 10% of the total contracted tuition. Registration and installment fees (if any) are not refundable in the event of withdrawal. Students who are on the payment plan and withdraw are responsible for the remaining charges on their account as determined under the withdrawal policy. Refunds take six to eight weeks to process.
The student is responsible for providing his or her own music books, sheet music, instruments, and materials, except where fees have been charged along with the class tuition.
